Dave Black has been a freelance photographer for over 30 years mainly shooting in the sports industry for publications such as Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek, and Sports Century on ESPN. He usually shoots for events such as Masters, Kentucky Derby, National Football League, NASCAR, and things such as the Olympic games, olympic athletes, and the United States Olympic Committee. Dave Black is known for his creative use with Speedlights and in particular with the artistic technique of Light Painting. He is looking to expand his work into commercial and advertising industry and with specialized lighting projects including work for the National Geographic and their book Where Valor Rests, Arlington National Cemetery.
Dave is also an educator as a Nikon Ambassador, and a SanDisk Extreme Team photographer. He has long been a teacher and a guest lecturer with man photography workshops since 1986 such as Rick’s Clarkson’s Photography at the Summit and Sports Photography Workshops, and American PHOTO magazine mentor. He is also involved with online instruction videos with KelbyOne and lecturing at colleges. He also has his own monthly website tutorials called Workshop at the Ranch which attracts 85,000 unique visitors monthly.
